Most of want to be a good something. A good husband, wife, plumber, mom, dad or whatever.
And then when we don't measure up, we put ourselves down or get distracted.
What we don't realize is that we are doing a very good job at being a human being.
We are doing human being perfectly!
What do human beings do? We make mistakes and we judge ourselves harshly for making those mistakes.
And then ultimately say, "I am a bad human being!"
Wrong, you are perfect at being a human being. You can never get human being wrong!
I realized that I was spending a lot of time hoping that I was going to be a good hypnotist, and believing deep down that I was a not so good hypnotist.
I was doing human very well, so well that I forgot to laugh.
Think about all of the harsh judments we make about humanity. The judgments haven't changed the behavior right? Learning how to do something better is how behaviors change. That's all. In fact, judgment can get in the way of learning because if all you can think of is what you did way back when, there's no brain juice for what you could do in the future that's different, healthier and way more fun!
As soon as you did something you did it, it 's over! Smacking your hand and saying, "bad puppy" won't change it and it won't guarantee that it won't happen again right?
Well at least is hasn't yet, but of course you could keep laying the same guilt trips if you want. Keep not seeing the purple hippo in your mind. Over and over and over.
Or you could breathe and appreciate how awesome you were at being human, and accept all of the judgements and voices and whatever else is going on as part of your experience and deciding if you want different experiences from now on.
Wanting to be a perfect God of Power and Perfection is so awesomely human! Let's celebrate it.
What do you think? Want to practice saying over and over, "Wow, I'm amazing at being a human being!" today? You are, there's no one who does it quite like you!
